Red Carpet Drop-off
From the moment your child arrives at Salem Methodist Preschool, we want their experience to be a special one. Pull up to the preschool entrance and our staff will greet your child and walk them inside our preschool. No need to park or walk through crazy weather. We’re here to roll out the red carpet and make your child’s preschool experience a great one!
Play-based Learning
The use of fun, multi-sensorial, research-based strategies helps children develop early learning skills. Play is at the heart of all of our classes. We’ve created a space that your child looks forward to coming to, to learn and play with friends.
Our curriculum includes: Pocket of Preschool, Jolly Phonics, Learning without Tears. We use Red/Green choice boards as the basis of our positive behavior management program.
Health & Safety
Your child’s health and safety are our top priority. Our preschool has strict guidelines for cleanliness and security.
When you drop off and pickup your child, we have an app, ipad with 4-digit code, or QR code you can use to confirm attendance.
Recorded security cameras are placed throughout the preschool, and locked exterior and interior doors comply with local fire code.
All staff submit fingerprints and undergo yearly background checks, attend mandated reporter training, are trained in CPR every two years, and attend yearly staff enrichment programs.

Small Class Sizes
Our class sizes are kept small to be able to cater to the needs of the whole child, taking into careful consideration the fact that each child is uniquely different and requires special attention.
Grounded in a new-age way of learning, we make sure that each child feels seen, heard, and loved.
Yoga Classes
Our preschool’s yoga class provides a serene and safe environment for young learners to explore movement, mindfulness, and self-expression. Incorporating gentle poses and breathing exercises, children develop body awareness, balance, and strength while learning to regulate emotions and reduce stress. Additionally, yoga fosters a sense of community and empathy, promoting social skills and cooperation. This holistic approach to wellness enhances overall physical and mental health, laying the groundwork for a lifetime of positive habits and well-being.
Music Therapy
Our preschool’s music therapy class provides a creative and therapeutic outlet for young learners to express themselves and explore emotions. Through singing, instrument play, and movement, children develop listening skills, language, and cognitive abilities. Music therapy also promotes social interaction and communication, fostering a supportive and inclusive environment where every child can flourish.
Furry Friends
Hi! We are Butterscotch and Brownie. We are guinea pigs that actually live inside Salem Methodist Preschool.
We squeal for joy when we see the kids who love to feed us. We enjoy eating lettuce, fresh vegetables, hay, carrots and (of course) guinea pig food.
You can even sign up to take us home on the weekends and introduce us to your family!

Sensory Room
Every class has dedicated time to use our sensory room. It offers a safe and immersive environment designed to stimulate and engage the senses of young learners. Our room features a variety of tactile, vestibular, visual, and proprioceptive elements carefully chosen to support children’s development and learning. Through interactive play with these elements, children can enhance their sensory processing skills, creativity, and social interactions. The sensory room is a flexible space that can be adapted to meet the specific needs and interests of each child, fostering a personalized and inclusive learning experience.
Inclusive Programming
Nurturing the adventurous nature of a young child’s mind, we incorporate sensorial components into all of our classrooms, encouraging imaginations to run free. Visual, auditory, and kinesthetic approaches are catered to each child’s needs.

Developmental Screenings
Evidence shows that the earlier development is assessed—the greater the chance a child has to reach his or her potential. Salem Methodist Preschool is now proud to offer families and the community the opportunity to have their child/ren developmentally screened. The ASQ-3 is the developmental screening tool that we will utilize to pinpoint developmental progress in children between the ages of one month to 5 ½ years. Its success lies in its parent-centric approach and inherent ease-of-use—a combination that has made it the most widely used developmental screener across the globe. We will begin offering developmental screenings twice a year, one in the Fall and another one in the Spring.
On-site Speech and Occupational Therapy
FUNctional Pediatric therapy offers speech evaluations and therapy services to our families. They also provide our staff with training in the use of visual support systems and strategies and resources that help foster communication, language development and social skills in our students. We are now collaborating with Karina Ayrapetyan- a pediatric occupational therapist and owner of Play and Grow Therapy for staff training/coaching and consultations on how to effectively develop a sensory diet for our students. She will also provide evaluations and therapy services in the home, school or out in the community.
